EmpowerHer
September 2024 - August 2026

The EmpowerHer project emerges as a pivotal initiative amidst the evolving socio-economic landscape of Europe, characterized by demographic shifts, the immediate repercussions of geopolitical tensions, notably the Ukraine conflict, and an escalating refugee crisis. These factors disproportionately impact migrant women, exacerbating their challenges in achieving economic integration and accessing entrepreneurial opportunities. This project is motivated by a pressing need to bridge the funding and support gap for migrant women's entrepreneurial endeavors, enhancing their participation in social entrepreneurship.

EmpowerHer stands out due to its innovative approach, incorporating a blend of European competence frameworks that cater to the specific needs of migrant women. This integration ensures a comprehensive skill set development, tailored to navigate the complexities of establishing a social enterprise in a foreign context. Additionally, the project leverages digital tools, particularly a mobile application, to offer accessible, flexible learning and resources. This digital dimension is critical in transcending geographical and logistical barriers, facilitating continuous engagement and support for migrant women entrepreneurs.

In a nutshell, EmpowerHer aims to:

  1. Empower migrant women through social entrepreneurship education and enhancing their business and digital skills by utilizing Flipped Classroom methodology and European Competence frameworks,
  2. Train adult educators in delivering this curriculum effectively, promoting knowledge dissemination,
  3. Establish a broad network of stakeholders and mentors ensuring the sharing of results and fostering collaboration across Europe.

The EmpowerHer project through its educational intervention will:

  1. Implement a training course based on a Flipped Classroom Curriculum focusing on social entrepreneurship, design thinking, and digital skills for migrant women,
  2. Pilot the developed gamified native mobile app complementing the curriculum,
  3. Design and implement an educational programme and launch the bespoke e-learning platform for adult educators and migrant workers,
  4. Establish an EU-level network of stakeholders.

The main results of the project are:

  1. Customized online Flipped Classroom curriculum with six modules covering social entrepreneurship, design thinking, and digital skills tailored for migrant women,
  2. The EmpowerHer mobile application, designed natively, featuring educational materials,
  3. A dedicated e-learning platform for adult educators and migrant workers, featuring four comprehensive modules,
  4. A network of stakeholders at the EU level, focused on sharing and disseminating the outcomes of the project.
